Description
These Easy French Dip Sliders are loaded with roast beef, provolone, caramelized onions, and a buttery onion-soup topping. Served with warm au jus, they make a flavorful appetizer, lunch, or dinner everyone loves.
Ingredients
3 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 medium onion, thinly sliced
2 teaspoons fresh thyme, minced
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
12 sweet rolls
10 slices provolone cheese
14 ounces sliced deli roast beef
1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
1 1/2 tablespoons dried onion soup mix
1 packet au jus gravy mix
3 cups water
Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
1. Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat.
2. Add sliced onions and cook 12–15 minutes until soft and lightly browned.
3. Stir in thyme, salt, and pepper. Remove from heat.
4. Preheat oven to 350°F.
5. Slice rolls horizontally, keeping them attached.
6. Place bottom half in an 11×7 baking dish.
7. Add half the provolone, then layer the roast beef.
8. Spread caramelized onions over the top.
9. Add remaining cheese and place the roll tops on.
10. Mix melted butter and onion soup mix.
11. Brush or pour over the tops.
12. Cover loosely with foil and bake 25 minutes.
13. Remove foil and bake 5 more minutes to brown.
14. Prepare au jus with 3 cups of water per package directions.
15. Serve sliders with warm au jus and parsley.
Notes
Use dried herbs if needed by cutting the amount in half.
Sweet rolls give the best flavor for sliders.
Provolone or mozzarella both melt beautifully.
Au jus adds extra flavor but is optional.
Sliders can be frozen for future meals.
