Description

This Crab Brulee recipe is a masterpiece of creamy seafood, delicately balanced with a crispy, caramelized topping. The richness of the crab meat combined with the slight sweetness of the brown sugar creates a luxurious experience that’s both indulgent and sophisticated.

Ingredients

Scale

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb fresh crab meat
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 small shallot, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup dry white wine
  • 1/2 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar

Instructions

Directions:

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Butter individual ramekins and set aside.
  • In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the shallot and garlic, cooking until soft and fragrant, about 2-3 minutes.

  • Add the crab meat and cook for 3-4 minutes, ensuring it’s heated through. Stir in the Old Bay seasoning, black pepper, and white wine. Let the mixture simmer for another 2 minutes until the wine has reduced by half.

  • Stir in the heavy cream and cook for another 2-3 minutes, until the mixture thickens slightly. Remove from heat and stir in the chopped parsley.

  • Spoon the crab mixture into prepared ramekins. In a small bowl, mix together the Parmesan cheese and breadcrumbs, then sprinkle the mixture evenly on top of the crab.
  • Sprinkle the brown sugar over the breadcrumb topping.
  • Place the ramekins on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and bubbly.

Place the ramekins on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes

  • For an extra crispy finish, broil for an additional 2-3 minutes, watching carefully to avoid burning.
  • Let cool for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with additional parsley, if desired.

Notes

Setting the Crab Brulee

  1. Prepare the Brulee Dishes: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease small ramekins or custard cups. Evenly distribute the crab mixture into the ramekins, filling them to the top.
  2. Bake the Crab Brulee Recipe: Place the ramekins in a shallow baking dish filled with hot water, making sure the water reaches halfway up the sides of the ramekins. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the custard is set but still slightly jiggly in the center.
