  • Yield: 4 sandwiches 1x

Description

The buffalo chicken cheesesteak is a bold twist on the classic Philly cheesesteak, packed with spicy buffalo chicken and melted cheese. The tangy buffalo sauce infuses the chicken with heat, while the melted cheddar and mozzarella cheeses create a gooey, irresistible topping. With caramelized onions and bell peppers, this sandwich is a delicious blend of spicy, savory, and cheesy flavors.

Ingredients

Scale

Ingredients:

  • 2 chicken breasts, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 cup buffalo sauce
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1/2 cup onion, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup green bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 4 hoagie rolls or sub rolls
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

Directions:

  • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the thinly sliced chicken, season with salt and pepper, and cook for 5-7 minutes until the chicken is cooked through and browned.

  • Add buffalo sauce to the chicken, stirring to coat, and let it simmer for 2-3 minutes. Set aside.

  • In the same skillet, melt butter and sauté the onions and bell peppers until softened, about 5 minutes.

  • Toast the hoagie rolls in a separate pan or oven until lightly golden.

  • Layer the buffalo chicken mixture onto the bottom half of each hoagie roll. Top with sautéed onions and peppers, then sprinkle with cheddar and mozzarella cheese.

  • Place the sandwiches under a broiler for 2-3 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

  • Optional: Drizzle blue cheese dressing on top before closing the sandwich.

Notes

Variations of Buffalo Chicken Cheesesteak

  1. Spicy or Mild: If you love extra heat, add more buffalo sauce or even some sliced jalapeños to your sandwich. If you prefer a milder version, simply reduce the buffalo sauce and opt for a more neutral cheese like mozzarella.
  2. Vegetarian Version: For a vegetarian take on the buffalo chicken cheesesteak, substitute the chicken with plant-based protein like buffalo cauliflower or veggie strips.
  3. Add Extra Veggies: Boost the nutritional value of your sandwich by adding extra vegetables like spinach, mushrooms, or tomatoes for more flavor and texture.
  4. Cheese Options: While provolone and mozzarella are classic choices, you can experiment with other types of cheese such as cheddar or even a spicy pepper jack for an extra kick.
